Salem Corwin (He/They) is a chaotic Catskillian cryptid who strives to spread queer joy across the mountains! In recent years Salem took part in the first ever all transgender cast and crew show in NYC theater history, performing as both John and Billy (alternating) in “The Civility of Albert Cashier” at The Players Theater. In film, he is known for playing Adrien in “Pluck” - a short film by Mandy Hebblethwaite, for which Salem won the award for Best Actor in a SUNY Film (2017).
With a ukulele as his weapon of choice, Salem has self-released two albums - “Take 23” (2019) and “Messy” (2021). Salem is also a four-time performer for the nationally acclaimed “Trans Voices Cabaret” in NYC.
You can hear more of Salem’s gentle-yet-theatrical voice in the audiobook for Robin Gow’s “A Million Quiet Revolutions”, as Oliver - a young trans man speaking through love letters and prose.
These days you can also find Salem on the airways, during his local radio show “Gender Blender” on 91.3FM every other Tuesday. You can learn more at wioxradio.org !
Offstage Salem is an avid knitter and pattern tester, a Jewitch (Jewish witch), and a flaming scorpio. He is a seeker of the truth, a lover of protests and civil disobedience, and a believer that theater can help to heal our world.
