Rym Hayouni

Rym Hayouni, Performance artist and actress. From the outset, my artistic practice and my academic cursus went on parallel paths complementary and enriching to each other. I studied Information and Communication Sciences and pursued a Master degree of research in Cinema Sciences. As for my artistic journey, it commenced at an early age on the stage of El Teatroo Studio at 8. After several years of training and practice of theatre and dance theater, Performance Art was for me a revelation of an ardency for a practice that transcends the singular and distinct artistic expression to open up to any form of experimentation embedded in the very context of the live action. In 2017, I worked on my first performance duo during my residency at Les Ateliers Sauvages – Algiers with Younes Merabet as a playwriter. That same year I experienced my first professional movie set with the director Bachir Derrais. After few different experiences in Tunisia, I participated in 2019 in the International Performance Art Week facilitated by the international artist duos VestAndPage (DE/IT) and Andrigo&Aliprandi (IT) and since my status as a performance artist commenced to take paramount shape in sundry projects among other a 9-day performance with the International Light Art Project- INTERFERENCE curated by Aymen Gharbi in 2021. My challenge was to strike a balance between my studies, performance art and movies. In fact, worked on a few as Black Medusa co-directed by Ismaeil and Youssef Chebbi in 2020 and Bunkoeur directed by Nidhal Chatta in 2021. Check out my website for more on rymhayouni.xyz/
