About:
R. Jahan is a Chicago native, a proud queer, Black creative making their mark as a playwright and performer. A passionate storyteller, they are dedicated to amplifying underrepresented voices and exploring the intersections of identity, love, and resilience. Regional premiere of Jeremy O. Harris's Slave Play (Short North Stage). Off-Broadway: National Queer Theater's The Survival (PAC), The Importance of Being Earnestly LGBTQ (Actor’s Temple). Other: National Queer Theater’s Criminal Queerness Festival at Lincoln Center Waiting for Gordon, DREAMing Out Loud (La MaMa), The Scottsboro Boys (Progressive Theater), Diary Of A Suicide (Brooklyn Art Haus). When not onstage, he is an advocate for diversity and equity in the arts and an avid supporter of community theater initiatives.
