Raven Gibbs

Raven Nicole is an experienced dancer, actress, model, choreographer, and activist with over 20 years of experience in various styles including Jazz, Hip-Hop, and Contemporary. As a choreographer, Raven’s work investigates the pathways between mental health, self-care, and hope. She has been awarded several times for her work, but she is most proud of the aid that she has been able to deliver to those that need it most in Black and Brown communities. Raven’s work has been presented by BET, Tyler Perry Studios, Essence, the Durham Arts Council, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Georgetown University, Miss Black America, Downtown Durham Incorporated, Eustress Incorporated, Durham Magazine, Discover Durham, Town of Cary, Spirituality and Health Magazine, The CW, CAM Raleigh, and more! As a performer, Raven has danced with several artists and companies including Steve Harvey, Tyler Perry, Ginuwine, Calvin Richardson, the Sacramento Kings, AyHollywood, GiGi Torres, Tank, and Snoop Dogg. She has also had the opportunity to act as Director for UNC's first coed dance team, UNC Kamikazi and lead instructor at both Bravo Academy of Dance and Faulkner’s Dance and Gymnastics, but can currently be found at home teaching adults and youth through her own 501c3 nonprofit organization and studio, Motiv8 Incorporated! Raven is a proud graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of the Arts in Psychology and Sociology with a concentration in Law and Cognitive Science. Currently, she is enrolled at Capella University and in pursuit of an MS in Mental Health Counseling. While enrolled, she has been able to gain certifications in Healing with the Arts, The Science of Well-Being, and Mental Health Management During Covid-19. She is passionate about her work in both dance and mental health and is actively working towards shifting the narrative of mental illness and breaking the stigma through the arts.
