Randall has always had an affinity for all things mechanical, technical, and creative. In 2003 Randall opened a car audio video business, which transformed into a home theater company in 2007. In response to the housing market crash of 2007-2008, Randall pivoted to the Information Technology industry and began providing consulting and professional services since, including certified expertise in fiber, copper, and wireless engineering.
As a strategy and technology consultant, from 2008 to present, Randall has consulted with over 80 companies, including public companies such as HHGregg, Wells Fargo, DirecTV, Baptist Health Systems, Steak and Shake, CBRE, Hilton Hotels, Marriott Hotels, Konica Minolta, and Hyatt Hotels among others. His work has also included numerous startups and VCs, and he played interim CIO and CTO roles for seven such ventures. Randall has a proven track record in turnkey technology design and implementation, with both small private companies (Example: Ohio Gratings,) non-profit organizations (Example: A.G. Gaston Boys and Girls Club, Penny Foundation, and numerous churches,) and divisions of larger companies (Example: a $100 million business unit of Cardinal Health). Currently, he is leading his company into the federal contracting space as a certified 8(a) and Veteran Owned Small Business. He is an inventor and cyber security enthusiast and recently prototyped a UAV assisted cyber security solution. He also helps lead several special initiatives including (liaison to the FAA for the City of Hoover and Hoover Police Department, Opportuniteach: a workforce development startup, and the Virtual Community Watch.). As of 2018, Randall has led an effort to increase exportable intellectual property development in the US with a focus on scalable, marketable, and commercial viability.
Randall Cottrell is an executive leader and business owner with expertise in many facets of business startup, organizational leadership, project management, financial analysis, IT consulting and technology infrastructure design. Randall prides himself on bridging the gap between the business unit and the IT unit, and excels in matching technology to an organization’s vision.
Randall is a published writer (Birmingham Business Journal,) recently completed two books set to be published in March of 2018 (“The A.U.D.I.T Method” and “The T.M.E. Equation”,) and launched a mastermind group called “Vision Casting” which is in its second year. He is married to an incredible wife and a father to five wonderful children.
