Ragan Whiteside: Multi-Talented Flutist, Radio Personality & Voice Actor
Flute-playing soul-jazz phenomenon Ragan Whiteside has carved out a unique space in contemporary jazz, becoming one of the genre’s most consistently dynamic and in-demand artists. With her exceptional skill, infectious energy, and undeniable stage presence, she continues to break barriers in the male-dominated instrumental sphere.
Her talent and impact were solidified in October 2022, when she made history as the first artist to win Best Contemporary Jazz Artist at the inaugural Jazz Music Awards in Atlanta. She followed that up with a 2023 NAACP Image Award nomination and four consecutive nominations for the Smooth Jazz Network’s Best Artist Award.
But Ragan Whiteside isn’t just a groundbreaking flutist—she’s also a rising star in radio and voiceover. As the host of the No. 1-rated Saturday morning show, Saturday with Ragan Whiteside, on Atlanta’s Jazz 91.9 WCLK, and her nationally syndicated show The Get Down with Ragan Whiteside, she keeps the groove alive on the airwaves, introducing listeners to a seamless blend of contemporary jazz, R&B, and global sounds. Her natural charisma, deep musical knowledge, and warm delivery make her a fan favorite behind the mic—whether she’s spinning records or voicing commercials, narrations, animation, and promos for major brands.
New Music & Chart Success
Ragan’s seventh studio album, RAGAN, drops in 2025, continuing her streak of hit records. The first single, “Steppin’ Out,” is already heating up the radio charts and streaming platforms, featuring RAH (Rich Harrison: Evelyn Champagne King, Atlantic Starr) on drums and Phil Hamilton (Luther Vandross, Anita Baker, Al Jarreau) on guitar. With ten consecutive Top 10 Billboard airplay singles by 2024, Ragan remains a dominant force in contemporary jazz—as an independent artist, no less, releasing music on Randis Music, the label she co-founded with her husband, producer Dennis Johnson.
Her previous album, Thrill Ride (2022), showcased her breathtaking virtuosity across eight dynamic tracks, featuring collaborations with Bob Baldwin, James Lloyd (Pieces of a Dream), and Chris “Big Dog” Davis. The title track, “Thrill Ride”, soared to No. 1 on five major radio charts, including Billboard Smooth Jazz, Mediabase, and The Smooth Jazz Network.
Voice Acting, Radio, & Beyond
Beyond the stage and studio, Ragan’s voice has become a sought-after presence in commercials, narration, and promos. With a voice that’s warm, inviting, and polished, she’s lent her talents to radio spots, corporate projects, and multimedia campaigns, further expanding her artistic reach.
Live Performances & Fan Engagement
Whether she’s headlining jazz festivals like Seabreeze Jazz Festival, Newport Beach Jazz Festival, and Mallorca Smooth Jazz Fest, or lighting up clubs like Blues Alley and Middle C Jazz, Ragan Whiteside brings her signature energy wherever she goes.
With a thriving music career, a growing presence in radio and voiceover, and a deep love for connecting with fans, Ragan Whiteside continues to break new ground—one groove at a time.
