Butler is a New Jersey-born actor, writer, filmmaker, educator, coach, and former model whose career has moved fluidly between film, television, theatre, education, athletics, and professional communications. Born in New Jersey and raised between New Jersey and New Orleans, Butler developed an early appreciation for performance, competition, storytelling, and the arts. He attended a private high school where he was a four-sport athlete in football, soccer, basketball, and track and graduated as valedictorian. His combination of academic achievement and athletics would become a defining thread throughout his life. Butler continued his education at Boston College, Caldwell University, New York University, and the New York Film Academy, pursuing undergraduate and graduate-level study with a particular concentration in English, Film, literature, writing, media, and filmmaking. He also studied acting at the Lee Strasberg School of Acting and trained in audition preparation, drama, improvisation, and scene work with Glenn Vincent and HB Studios in Greenwich Village. His additional academic and professional training includes television production, writing for television and radio, television and society, film history, film theory, screenwriting, and film production. His professional acting credits span major motion pictures, television, digital media, commercials, and independent film. He has been recognized as Coach of the Year and has worked extensively with athletes and young people in both competitive and educational environments. Butler's professional life outside entertainment has also included journalism, copywriting, marketing communications, public relations, media production, insurance, claims investigation, and corporate communications. His writing and communications experience has included more than 15 years of copywriting and marketing work, allowing him to approach acting and filmmaking not only as a performer but also as a storyteller, writer, editor, producer, and communicator. His interests outside the entertainment industry reflect the same appetite for challenge and adventure that has characterized his athletic career. Butler is an avid motorcyclist, rock climber, and enthusiast of extreme sports and outdoor pursuits. He is a certified ocean lifeguard and brings extensive athletic and physical-performance experience to character work.
