Othel Robert Owen is an Actor, entertainer, and Entrepreneur.
Othel has over twelve years of acting and film experience. At six years old, Othel made his debut into film as the lead actor in “Eric’s Haircut”, an autobiographical account of a boy’s trip to the barber shop. The film short was debuted in August 2011 at the Gene Siskel Theatre at the Black Harvest Film Festival where Roger Ebert gave him two thumbs up.
After his movie debut in “Eric’s Haircut”, Othel was picked up by two talent agencies and went on to work on commercials for companies such as Old Navy, Prime Time Pizza, Big "O" Tires, Geico, Chipp’d, McGraw Hill and AARP. Othel was in Clown Time, an Industrial Film for Second City Chicago and he has also worked as an extra for “Boss” starring Kelsey Grammer and as an extra on “Chicago Fire”. In June 2012, Othel traveled to the UK to participate in Twin Towns, a documentary for the SKY TV Channel. In January 2013, Othel was chosen to work with Nike for the “Let’s Move” Kick off Campaign for First Lady Michelle Obama. Othel made a cameo appearance in “Hogtown,” a feature film that premiered at the Black Harvest Film Festival in August 2014. He will also star as Roger in “The Great Chicago Adventure”, a feature film for The Chicago History Museum. “The Great Chicago Adventure” will run at The Chicago History Museum through 2020. Othel recently appeared in a promotional commercial for the Disney Channel. He also loves to do Voice Over work for commercials and film.
Othel’s modeling debut was for the 2011 Winter Holiday Issue of Child Model Magazine. He has also appeared in Kidz Rock Fashion Magazine and Making of a Model Magazine as an upcoming model. Othel was also featured on the J&S Printing Website, Ashton Ray Hansen Photography Website, and on Old Navy’s Website for the NFL Gear.
Othel’s theatre experience includes 9 years with the Tony Award- winning Lookingglass Theatre’s Young Ensemble.
In 2020, Othel’s entrepreneurial spirt led him to start 203, a resale business selling high demand sneakers and clothing. His business organized a community project titled “Community Cares”, where he collaborated with local businesses and non-profit organizations to hand out 1000 PPE kits to the community.
Othel is active at Francis W. Parker School where he is involved as a Student Ambassador, Head Representative for the Student Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), Red Cross member, Economics Club member, member of the Varsity Basketball and Soccer teams, a member of the Young Men of Color group, and representative for the Francis Parker for the “Can We” National American Democracy Project.
Born September 25, 2003 in Chicago, IL, Othel is currently in twelfth Grade and in his spare time enjoys acting, making music, watching movies, traveling and hanging out with his friends.
