Nathan Harper

Background Experience: Mr. Harper’s background consists of an associate’s degree in applied science emergency medical services. Throughout the course of his career, Mr. Harper has taken many Fire Department related courses through the Alabama Fire College, and other entities. The classes consist of Fire related, Incident Command, CBRNE response, Rope Rescue, Decontamination, Hazardous materials and many other classes. He has extensive experience in Hazardous Materials response, Decontamination, and Emergency Medical Services. He has 27 years experience within the Fire Service holding various roles as an Active First Responder. He started his career as a Firefighter/EMT, progressed to a Firefighter/Paramedic, worked as a Fire Protection Specialist/Paramedic in the Fire Prevention Division and currently serves as a Captain/Paramedic supervising 4-8 personnel at an outlying fire station. Mr. Harper also served as the Fire Chief in an all-hazards department that served his local community. Incident Response: Mr. Harper has responded to Commercial Structure Fires, Aircraft crashes, Mass Casualty Incidents, Natural Disasters, Hazardous Material Releases, and Water/Rope Rescues over the course of his career. For these Incidents he served in various positions from the entry team responsible for mitigating the incident, to Medical/ HAZMAT/ Rehab section leader, to serving as the Incident Commander for on scene operations. Philosophy of Training Emergency Responders: “I believe that a person receiving the training will only get as much out of the training as the effort the instructor puts in to prepare for the training.”
