About:
Namirah Zihniah is an Indonesian actor, filmmaker, and current MA student at NYU Gallatin School of Individualized. She is studying Acting, Filmmaking, and Media Business, focusing on Indonesian women’s representation in global cinema. She has been acting on stage in Indonesia with Teater Paradoks and has been featured in a variety of advertisements. Since becoming a student at NYU in 2022, she has performed for Gallatin Theatre Troupe’s productions of “The Caucasian Chalk Circle by Bertolt Brecht,” “Hopelessly Devoted to You,” and “Anti-Gone,” and has acted and worked in a long list of NYU student films, along with studying acting at HB Studio. Her latest short film won Best 3D Short Film at Marché du Film, Cannes Film Festival 2023, and her other short film was nominated for Best Screenplay at Gallatin Film Alliance’s Film Festival. She is currently in pre-production for her MA thesis film.
