Kelsie Jade Tyler
About:
Kelsie Jade Tyler is a 13-year-old dancer born and raised in New Jersey, whose story is as inspiring as her performances. From a young age, Kelsie has faced immense challenges, yet her love for dance has helped her overcome them with grace and determination.
Born with a congenital heart defect and blood disorder, Kelsie underwent open-heart surgery at just three years old. After a challenging recovery, she was eager to show off her sassy spirit. She took her first dance class as a toddler, and from that moment on, she never looked back. This marked the beginning of her passion for dance and her love for expressing herself through movement. She is incredibly grateful for the opportunity to do what she loves every day: dance.
Kelsie’s dance training began at Epic Dance Company in Flemington, NJ, where she had the opportunity to work with renowned choreographers like Marinda Davis and Ade Obayomi. Today, Kelsie dances at Studio L Dance Co. in Bridgewater, NJ, where she continues to train in all styles of dance including ballet, pointe, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, jazz, tap and ballroom. She has had the privilege of working with legendary names in the dance world, including Abby Lee Miller, Blake McGrath, Manny Castro and Zach Hudson, learning from their expertise and gaining invaluable experience.
Through her hard work and dedication, she has earned numerous awards for her solo performances and has received several scholarships at prestigious dance conventions. In 2024, she had the honor of dancing with Derek Hough on his “Dance for the Holidays” tour, an unforgettable experience that allowed her to share the stage with one of her idols. Kelsie has also been featured in two show tapings for Hulu’s Dance Moms: A New Era, where she filmed alongside the talented dancers of the show, further solidifying her place in the dance world.
Kelsie’s dedication to dance extends beyond performance. She has also furthered her education through Phil Wright’s Chicken Nugget University, specializing in hip hop, and Menina Fortunato’s Business of Dance mentorship, where she is gaining invaluable insight into the business side of the dance industry and learning how to build and sustain a successful career.
In addition to dance, Kelsie has expanded her talents into modeling. She made her runway debut at New York Fashion Week, showcasing her versatility as both a dancer and a model. Kelsie hopes to continue pursuing modeling in the future, blending her two passions into a career that celebrates her artistic expression.
Despite her early challenges, Kelsie’s journey is one of resilience, passion, and hard work. She is committed to balancing her dance education, academics, and personal life while continuing to grow in the industry. With a bright future ahead, Kelsie dreams of signing with a talent agency and dancing professionally, with aspirations to dance in music videos or become a backup dancer for a pop star. With her talent, determination, and love for dance, there’s no doubt that Kelsie’s journey is just beginning, and she’s excited for the adventures that lie ahead.
