Kayla Pascal

My friends would describe me as highly ambitious, unapologetically goofy, and “ride-or-die” loyal. These characteristics have helped me to reach many of my goals and, at the same time, allowed me to find a thread of positivity in all situations. I have no regrets because every painful mistake I’ve made in my life has also been a moment of mental and spiritual growth. It was those circumstances in life that didn’t go as planned that I learned that I am resilient and strong, yet allowed to be fragile. It was my ability to overcome challenging circumstances that helped me to reach my goals. For example, the first major goal I failed to reach was acceptance to a number of Performing Arts Program. Disappointed after receiving many rejection letters from colleges and universities, I decided to take a gap year. I wanted to use my gap year to give back to children, while continuing to strengthen my singing skills. So I decided to become an Americorps member, where I worked with disadvantaged children in Harlem, New York. During that time, I started and led an after school Performing Arts Club, inspiring other children to pursue the arts. Singing with the children every chance I got, I still remember farewell cards I received from my students stating “Remember us when you're famous”. I completed the program and went on to pursue my bachelors degree. In May 2022, I will receive my bachelor's degree in Creative Advertising, as I promised my parents and myself. Although I have accomplished some of my goals, my ultimate goal is to be a successful actress, model, and recording artist.
