Katherine Evarts
About:
Dr. Katherine (Kate) Evarts is a mid-30s, white, bisexual, cisfemale licensed clinical psychologist by day and podcaster on mental health & relationships in reality TV by evening--happy and eager to replace either shift with anything in the arts & entertainment world. Because she is a private practitioner/psychologist and podcaster, Dr. Kate is able to travel on a short timeline, stay anywhere in the world for periods of time, and be flexible about changing schedules as they are under way.
In terms of previous experience, Dr. Kate worked in community theatre (leading in both Shakespeare and musicals), as well as year-round dance and voice classes, for the entirety of her childhood and adolescence, starting with a role as baby Jesus in a nativity play and continuing through such leads as Mabel in Pirates of Penzance, Maria in Sound of Music, Portia in Merchant of Venice, and both Helena and Titania in Midsummer, eventually also directing community productions of such Shakespeare as Much Ado and Twelfth Night. She has also historically written docudramas and is about to become published author of a textbook she was asked to write on the use of creativity and art in the process of healing from sexual violence trauma within the context of psychotherapeutic and system-level interventions. Dr. Kate also holds a number of other academic roles at a clinical psychology doctoral program (co-chair, professor, dissertation chair, supervisor, etc.), but would happily apply her skills to a career in the arts in a heartbeat. For Dr. Kate's primary focus is on healing—whether through use of the arts or psychotherapy. Others—friends, colleagues, students, and patients alike—would say Dr. Kate is humorous, fun to be around, easy to work with, directable, positive (having been told she “spreads the sunshine"—but not toxically or naïvely so), relational, hard-working, and creative.
In addition to any acting roles (including voice acting), as well as dancing and singing, all of which she would bring a bevy of experience to, Dr. Kate is also open to roles such as hosting, modeling, writing, coordinating, or even production assisting—roles with which she has had amateur experience. For example, her vast experience with leadership positions prepares her for the confidence hosting, modeling, and coordination require, while her humility and deference honed through being directed in community theatre prepares her for being directed in modeling and production assistance positions.
Dr. Kate has had experience being photographed for a variety of needs, including advertising materials/promotional handouts for a university’s admissions materials (see portfolio). She has had experience in a wide variety of dance modalities from Ballet, Modern and Jazz to Hip Hop and Musical Theatre to Belly Dancing and Indian Dancing. Dr. Kate has also done improv, imitation, and public speaking to audiences of over a thousand. She can move her face and body fluidly and in immediate imitation or directed action. Because Dr. Kate is easy to get along with (literally a requirement of her academic and clinical jobs) and direct, she is also easy to produce and photograph.
In the podcasting world, although Reality Test is a new (and therefore tiny) podcast, Dr. Kate and her colleague, Dr. Rachel, are regularly discussing mental health, sociopolitical forces on wellness, relationships, and marginalization of oppressed groups, especially as those themes arise on various popular shows in Reality TV. They are—and have been since early 2024—video and audio-recorded weekly, adding to Dr. Kate’s experience with public facing video and audio performance, production, social media marketing, and development/writing.
Respectful and humble, Dr. Kate has learned how to be a good team player, to step up and lead when there is a need, but respect others' authority and support team goals across all settings and contexts. Although she is unrepresented and ununionized in the talent world, she has had vast experience working with all sorts of stakeholders from fellow actors, directors, writers and producers to agents, managers, and union representatives. Dr. Kate has been trained to work with professionals and patients from all walks of life and can connect authentically and empathetically with whoever is in front of her. She's comfortable in front of a live audience due to her theatre background and in front of a camera and microphone due to her podcasting experience. Check in and say hi—she won't be analyzing you, unless you request!
