Johnathan Sturgess

Johnathan Sturgess is a 15-year-old award-winning director, filmmaker, and creative force known for his work in acting, voice acting, and animation. Born on April 18, 2011, he has developed a strong visual eye and storytelling voice at a young age, helping spark original ideas and characters within the animation space. Through his work, he aims to create meaningful change by increasing representation for Black and neurodivergent kids in the industry. Johnathan is the creator of the Unstoppable franchise, an indie-animated superhero universe that highlights children from diverse backgrounds working together through creativity, teamwork, and imagination. His work demonstrates how independent animation can be used to tell powerful, positive stories for kids—and for anyone who loves indie animation—without needing major studio backing. Often described as an “old soul,” Johnathan has a deep love for music, technology, superheroes, toy collecting, and the arts. His multifaceted personality allows his work to resonate with a wide range of audiences, while his perspective as a young neurodivergent creator brings authenticity and heart to everything he creates.
