Joe Weyant
About:
My name is Joe Weyant, I am a rancher in one of the most rural areas of the lower 48. My wife and I own and operate the Old Iron Ranch in Ekalaka, MT. End of the world 9 miles, Ekalaka 12. While running the ranch, I also day ride and work at various ranches throughout the area helping with all things ranching and riding. I spent many years cowboying and ranching in western Montana on my wife's family ranches, in 2023 through a series of ups and downs, my wife and I were able to head further east and start a cow calf ranching operation of our own. I am a leatherworker and make almost all of my cowboy gear, as well as some to sell, my wife and I are both active in the western arts and often work together on projects that include leatherwork, and traditional western beading and leather/rawhide braiding. Before my ranching career I was a wildlife biologist, I specialized in human wildlife conflict mitigation. A job that brought me throughout the west, locating, trapping, and mitigating situations in which wildlife found themselves in conflict with urban areas, and agriculture operations. Though my current town population can just about all fit inside a single airliner, I pride myself on building connections and stories the world over, and I suppose if that airliner was making a long enough flight, I just might have a tale or two to tell for the trip.
