James Benton II

My name is James Benton, a filmmaker and storyteller from Georgia. I grew up in Atlanta after moving from Savannah at age four, and the South has profoundly shaped my perspective and creative voice. I initially pursued a career in medicine, following in my parents’ footsteps, but realized my passion lay elsewhere. After a brief time at Emory University, I transferred to the Savannah College of Art and Design, inspired by a deep fascination with documentaries. Over time, my work has expanded into narrative storytelling, driven by a desire to explore human complexity and create films that resonate emotionally. My goal is to leave a lasting legacy as a storyteller, crafting work that moves audiences and gives back to the communities that have supported me along the way.
