About:
Jacklyn Rosa, is a Mother, Educator, Producer, and Writer. She is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Artists for Creative Theatre, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the arts in NYC. She is also a Preschool Teacher at Supermoon Art Space. Born and raised in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, Jacklyn always loved the arts. She received her first acting role as an Actor/Peer Educator at Teatro El Puente when she was 16 years old. Her passion as an actor developed through her experiences and learning about Augusto Boal's Theatre of the Oppressed. This inspired her to study theater and begin a journey of self love, spiritual growth and dedication to art and education. She studied at Empire State College where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Education. She has both performed on stage and behind the scenes in several theater venues such as the Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre and La Tea. She also produced a one woman show with Venessa Diaz and ACT called "Organic Sofrito" for Puerto Rico where 100% of the proceeds went to the Maria Fund to help victims of Hurricane Maria. She performed as Maria for the play called "Don't Take Me Alive" in a one night performance at the Cherry Lane Theatre for the Downtown Urban Arts Festival. Her most recent performance was in 2019 where she played the role of Olivia in a 10 minute play for Nuyorican Poets Cafe called "Dream Catchers." In 2016 she wrote a one act play called "Boxes" a story about homelessness and PTSD and performed a reading at Empire State college. She looks forward to educating, writing, performing and producing content that is impactful and meaningful, especially for the BIPOC community.
