About:
Isabela Coppel began her acting career in theater as a child actress in 2002, but in 2011, she had to suspend her career due to the lack of opportunities for people with disabilities in the industry. However, she grew up in theaters her entire life. She studied Literary Studies at The New School University in New York, with studies in Disability, Gender Theory, playwriting, and the Classics. She speaks Spanish, English, and French. She has conducted academic research on gender, disability, and literature. Some of her academic works include the thesis "No talent for such things: Gender and Modernity in Hedda Gabler" and the essay "Marxism in Hamlet," as well as the conferences "How I wrote Heaven of Invention, or How to reinvent the Greek classics without dying in the attempt" (presented in NY and CDMX), "Disability, Spaces and Power Relations in the Modern World," "Not everyone has a disability, empathy lies." As a playwright, she wrote "Heaven of Invention," a play chosen to inaugurate the Teatrix platform in Mexico after adjustments were made to its season due to the COVID pandemic. As a screenwriter and executive producer, she made "Béa," a short film that won 16 awards at various international festivals, such as the Oaxaca FilmFest and the ECU European Independent Film Festival, among others. She also worked collaborating on the development of scripts projects, including scripts for very successful Hollywood films. In 2024, she starred in the Canal 5 and Vix series "Incorregibles de Santa Martha," playing the lead character of Zoe Rodarte. She also played Ema in Roger I. Cámara L. 's science fiction short film "Castings," which will premiere in 2025.
