India Thakar

India Thakar is a Desi Americana, “old soul,” and aspiring actress from Pittsburgh, PA. Growing up in a mixed race household with a father of Indian descent and a mother of Polish and French background, India was exposed to international film and culture at a young age. She was drawn to the glamour and music of Bollywood productions, the aesthetic of old Hollywood, and the depth of independent coming of age films. Following her love of theatre and media, from ages 3 to 18, India studied dance at the Lincoln Park Academy and under Maria Torrence, including classical ballet, contemporary dance, tap, and jazz. She was a part of the Nutcracker Ballet for over 5 years, and pursued acting roles in high school theatre. India went on to study Media Arts at Juniata College, where she took classes on Film, Video Production, Screenwriting, and Design. She additionally served as a screenwriter in student films, and was on the Bollywood Dance team. Post graduation, India has worked as a Graphic and Website Designer, giving her exposure to the creative industry, and flexibility to continue personal creative projects. To continue her practice in acting and film, India has created a few “mini” films which can be found on her Instagram (@indiathakar), and has collaborated with music artist, JUMA. She has additionally taken acting classes at the Nancy Mosser School under Marc Moritz. Currently, India is living in New Haven, CT and is seeking acting opportunities within the city, as well as in New York City.
