Accustomed to airplanes and distant countries since she could recall, Huei Yen Jian was born in Taiwan and raised in Taipei City. Right now falling asleep in Beijing and waking up in Taipei or U.S. was not out of the norm for her. She is the daughter of a Taiwanese mother and an Austronesian father. Her dad once was a guitarist who took her along on his tours, allowing her to breathe art, music, and an indigenous Austronesian lifestyle. At age twenty-one, she moved to Australia and lived there until she was 22. When she took a plunge and made the brave decision to move to Los Angeles on her own, she became the black sheep of her family. Her father made the tough decision in making sure nothing was secure and easily given to her. While studying to become an actor at New York Film Academy, Yen worked as a nanny and Chinese tutor in a Hollywood mansion to pay her bills and sustain her life. Having had a front-row seat to various cultures and identities, as an Asian woman, of Austronesian descent, and Chinese descent, Yen saw the bigger picture for her career, in that constant challenges minorities set as underdogs does not ameliorate her work and passion. She set out to achieve her dreams firstly as a collaborator and mediator for people who come from different backgrounds to find a mutual understanding to create meaningful and rich stories that merge the beauty of east and west culture. And her love of performing art and share had made her keep going on breaking the typical aspect and barrier of her making her desire content as an actress.
