Eugene Yasukawa

I was born in San Francisco, mostly raised in Tokyo, and spent a formative period in Brussels. My creative journey began in my teens, producing tracks for well-known Japanese artists. Since then, I’ve continued to grow as a multifaceted creator, also composing for films and commercials. Throughout my life, I’ve faced a range of challenges—from experiencing discrimination in Europe as a child, to surviving life-altering car accidents, and navigating an unconventional path through top-tier Japanese universities—dropping out of Keio before later being accepted into Waseda. I’ve also turned down a major label contract to stay true to my independent spirit, and founded businesses in both Japan and the U.S. Outside of music, my early years were grounded in disciplines like karate and baseball, which taught me the value of focus, resilience, and flow—principles I carry into both my art and life. Now based in the foothills of Pasadena, I lead a mountain life while continuing business in Japan. My creative focus lies in promoting mental and physical well-being, and channeling peace through sound. No matter the path, my passion for music and harmony has always remained. Arigato gozaimasu!
