About:
Southern Methodist University dance performance artist Elizabeth Perry has earned a B.F.A. in Dance Performance at the Meadows School of the Arts, where she trained extensively in ballet, modern, jazz, and partnering. Originally from Houston, Texas, Elizabeth graduated from Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, a pre-professional magnet school program that cultivated her versatile technical and artistic foundation. She also trained for many years with Dance Du Coeur and Karla Pattavina’s Dance Academy. At SMU, Elizabeth has performed in works by renowned choreographers including José Limón, Paul Taylor, and David Parsons, as well as original faculty choreography by Alvon Reed. Additional performance experience includes repertory and community performances throughout Houston, including appearances with HSPVA Concert Dancers and the Houston Thanksgiving Parade. She has performed in various student-led performances and choreographed a contemporary work called "What Remains With Us." Elizabeth has further expanded her training through intensives and master classes with artists and companies such as Alonzo King LINES Ballet, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. She is the recipient of several scholarships and awards, including the Meadows Artistic Scholarship and the Ed and Birdie Dawley Summer Arts Dance Scholarship. In addition to performing, Elizabeth enjoys mentoring young dancers through her work as a studio teacher and working in photography studios.
