Desiny Smith

Growing up, I was taught that being myself was somehow wrong because I seemed to be talented at everything I touched. My light felt too bright from other people’s perspectives, so I was taught to dim it. To hold back. To make myself smaller so others could feel comfortable. Somewhere along the way, I started believing them. I even let go of one of my most sacred truths: that I was meant to sing—to be seen and acknowledged for my gifts by the world. But life has a beautiful way of bringing us back to ourselves. I've decided to step back into the person I was always meant to be. Not perfectly. Not without fear. But with courage. With confidence I’ve built brick by brick. With a heart that has learned that my light was never something I needed to apologize for. Now, I’m choosing to create from a place of truth. I’m choosing the stage. The camera. The music. The clothes. The stories. The art. The moments that allow me to express every colorful, curious, creative part of myself. I’m no longer interested in dimming my shine. I want to create in spaces that celebrate it. My life experiences have given me an assortment of profound emotions to pull from when taking on a role. And professionalism is a non-negotiable standard in which I wish to honor you. I am flexible, and articulate with a smile that radiates gratitude. ...Why? Because... This is more than a career that I've chosen. It’s a homecoming. This is my story, and I look forward to telling it in collaboration with you. Thank you.
