De’Andre Cornish
About:
My name is De’Andre Cornish. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, move to Duncan, South Carolina in 2013. I grew up playing sports, Football, Basketball, Baseball, Soccer, and even a little bit of karate. While living in Baltimore, when I was about 8 or 9 my mother would take me to these acting classes in Washington, DC. We would practice acting techniques, improvisation, remake scenes, skits and monologues. We did a couple scenes of the Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. I proudly played the role of Grover Underwood. Continuing on to when I was in 6th grade I auditioned to be on the Hip Pop dance team, made the cut. Performed at halftime basketball games. Had 2 big performances, a Christmas Special and a End of the Year Special. I enjoyed my time on the team, learned a lot of dance techniques, and met some great people. The next semester I auditioned for the role Zeke Baylor in The High School Musical Theater Play at my Deer Park Middle Magnet School. Got the role and got to work. We performed the play 2 times. Getting rejected by Sherpay twice was totally fine. Now getting into 2013 when I moved down to Duncan, South Carolina. I started to focus more on Football and Basketball. Still on the side, in 7th and 8th grade I was taking a Drama/Theater and Music Education class. Getting into high school I was head on with football and basketball. After my junior year of basketball, I decided to just focus on football. I had my first born my senior year in 2018, my mook mook, aka princess, aka babygirl, aka bighead. Motivates, teaches, and blesses me in so many ways, I’m grateful for babygirl. I graduated high school. Got offered scholarships for football from Alabama State University, North Greenville University, Tennessee Chattanooga University, Lenoir-Rhyne University, The Citadel, Catawba University, Coffeyville(Juco), and Limestone University. I committed to Lenoir-Rhyne University. Moved in my dorm in 2019. But unfortunately due to Covid-19 hitting in 2020 my sophomore year, I started to get frustrated and procrastinated a lot with classes being via Zoom. So I dropped out after the first semester and was kind of down because football being apart of my life, then just gone in a blink of an eye. Received a lot of accolades throughout my athletic career. Got myself back together and got a JOB. While working at my job in 2021 I started working with John Casablancas Model & Talent Management (MTM). Worked with them every Thursday at 7pm via Zoom for about 7 months, worked with a lot of great instructors, met a lot great people. Learned a lot more advanced acting techniques, monologues, make-up, improv, and how to build our portfolio. Even with my hard work and dedication, unfortunately due to my financial limitations I could not complete my last few weeks. But even with all the struggles, the trials and tribulations, I’m still working, practicing my craft, just patiently waiting for my opportunity. Looking for a chance.
