About:
I am a retired newspaper editor and have been active in live theatre for over 21 years. For the past three years (Pre-Covid) I worked part-time as marketing director of the Quincy Music Theatre. I have been in over 65 musicals at the QMT. In addition to musicals, I have acted in a dozen dramas including 12 Angry Men and Exonerated. I co-wrote with my friend A.E. Howe and directed a courtroom drama, “Splintered Judgement.” I wrote, directed, and acted in a Halloween Drama at Havana Springs Resort, “Murder at Resty Palms: A Ghost Story,” this past fall. I am currently directing and producing a short film, “The Box,” based on a Halloween short story I wrote, as well as playing a cemetery superintendent in a film, “Hero’s Not Forgotten,” which is now in post-production.
For almost nine years I had a talk radio program Back Country Roads on a local country radio station WGWD where I interviewed local people who had extraordinary lives, including Jack Wingate a local sports fisherman and Bobby Bowden the Florida State University’s head coach. My shows were never scripted by the way. The station sold out and is now strictly talk no music. For seven years I did a local news overview for the CBS (WCTV) affiliate in Tallahassee, Florida.
In addition to acting, I am publishing a three part series, “The Curious Life of Marci Bell.” Part One and Part Two are Novellas and are available on Amazon. I will finish Part Three later in the year. I have written a dozen serials that have been published in Florida newspapers. Currently chapters of the Marci Part Three book are being published in Seniors Today a Central Florida Magazine. Ghost Eyes the second in a series of murder mysteries is being published in The Jackson County Floridian. Salt Air, Bones and the Perfect Crime was the first in that series. In addition, I write a weekly column for the Floridian.
Over the years I have written a number of short stories which have also been published in local papers including: “The Ghost of Mary Louise,” Old Grabble Toe,” “The Tale of the Five-legged Whistling Goats,” “The Old Log Cabin,” and “An Incident at Spenser House.” I will be publishing my first novel, “The Night of The Grey Dog,” a historical fiction about the murder of a white plantation owner and the lynching of a Black man during the 1930’s in the early summer of 2021.
