About:
Ameerah Briggs is from Sumter, SC and based in Brooklyn, NY. Her credits include M. Night Shyamalan's Split, and Equal Standard opposite Marc John Jefferies and Ice T. She recently booked the indie film Population Purge, filming in Myrtle Beach, SC (currently filming). In the spring of 2021 Ameerah booked her first solo show (filmed for the stage) The Bull-Jean Stories featured in The Drama League's Directorfest in NYC. Ameerah has won awards for Best Supporting Actress in the films Never Once An Ocean and The Underhanded Free Throw. She also stars in the short film, Reasons, which has appeared in the American Black Film Festival, LA & NYC Shorts International Film Festivals, Pan African Film Festival, Martha's Vineyard African Film Festival, Bronzelens FIlm Festival, and recently the Denton Black Film Festival. Coming from a military and artistic family Ameerah traveled at a young age. She lived in Spain until the age of three, then moving to England and back to SC where she studied art and received a BFA in theatre. Outside of acting Ameerah has always enjoyed studio art. Be it oil painting, drawing, water colours, wood burning, raku clay, and now digital illustration. She is currently working on her series of fabric portraits for her company, Ameerah Zarinah LLC.
