Akiko Iwase

Akiko Iwase is an actor, screenwriter, and producer who has built a diverse career across film, television, and theatre. In recent years, she has expanded her presence internationally. Her notable credits include the Johnny Depp led feature film “MINAMATA”, the Ridley Scott produced Netflix film “Earthquake Bird”, and the HBO Max series “TOKYO VICE”, where she appeared as a main cast member. In 2020, she was invited to the Berlin International Film Festival and walked the red carpet alongside Johnny Depp, Bill Nighy and Hiroyuki Sanada. As a writer, she has written for major Japanese networks, such as TV Asahi’s Tokuso 9 as well as NHK BS Premium dramas. Akiko also works as a producer. Her medium-length film “Lunar Maria” (2021) earned multiple awards at film festivals worldwide, including the Grand Prize at the Prague International Film Festival. In 2023, she wrote, produced, and starred in the feature film “A Matter of Sharing”, further establishing herself as a multifaceted creator with a strong artistic vision.
