For the second cast on Norwegian Pr1ma, we are seeking highly skilled singers, rappers, tap dancers, beatboxers and multi-instrumentalists for an exciting new production of THE NOISE BOYS.
Mixing tap dancing, beatboxing, rap, singing and instrumental skills, this show explores exciting new musical and percussive collaborations between artists at the very top of their game.
Nic Doodson Productions is a production company that has created hit shows and groups for over 20 years. Creations include a cappella supergroup THE MAGNETS, the hit a cappella and beatboxing show GOBSMACKED and current worldwide smash THE CHOIR OF MAN. NOISE BOYS premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2019.
The Narrator
Role: Rapper, Singer & Storyteller
Identifies: Female
Ethnicity: Black, African Caribbean, Middle Eastern, North African or Asian
Nationality: Any, but with fluent English (UK/US/Australian accent)
Physicality: Any – but must be an absolute star.
Skills: Outstanding pop singer with strong ability to rap
Description: The Narrator is the conduit between the show and the audience. She is the person who explains to the audience what is going on and guides them through the show. She should be charming and empathetic and able to converse confidently with the audience and improvise and ad lib in conversation with the audience. The Narrator should be equally at home performing storytelling rap (in the style of Hamilton/In the Heights) and divaesque pop numbers (think Ariana Grande).
BEATBOXERS:
Highly skilled beatboxers with a wide variety of sounds and effects. Should be highly efficient at keeping time with both in-ear click and without click. Additional skill using loopstations, notably the BOSS RC-505 would be preferable, though not 100% required. Beatboxers can be any nationality, ethnicity, and gender identity. 18 and older.
TAPPERS:
Highly skilled rhythm tappers, in the style of “American Tap.” Acrobatic and/or clowning skills advantageous. Tappers can be any nationality, ethnicity, and gender identity. 18 and older.

Job Responsibilities

Perform in a one-act theatrical production addressing trauma and mental health

Portray characters with emotional authenticity and nuance

Rehearse, tour, and perform in multiple UK cities including Salford, Lancaster, Scarisbrick, Lytham St Annes, Camden, and Blackburn

Engage with post-show discussions and outreach events, as needed

Collaborate with the director and production team for character development
Requirements

Stage acting experience preferred, especially in dramatic or socially driven work

Strong memorization and line delivery under touring conditions

Availability for all listed tour dates in September and October
