Casting Call: 2024 Magnet Theater Diversity Scholarship Applicant
Job Description: Magnet Theater invites applications for the 2024 Magnet Diversity Scholarship Program. Established in 2016, this scholarship aims to foster a diverse community in improv, reflecting the rich variety of our city both on stage and in the classroom. The program offers an opportunity for individuals from diverse backgrounds to explore and grow in the realms of Improv, Musical Improv, and Sketch Writing.
Job Responsibilities:
- Participate actively and commit to learning and growing in the chosen discipline (Improv, Musical Improv, and/or Sketch Writing).
- Attend classes regularly and engage in all related activities.
- Uphold the values of diversity and inclusion within the Magnet Theater community.
Requirements:
- Interest in Improv, Musical Improv, or Sketch Writing.
- Commitment to attending and participating in classes and related activities.
- Diverse background with regard to race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, and age.
- No prior experience in improv or at Magnet Theater is necessary; however, applicants who have partially completed the program are also welcome.
- Complete a two-section application, including General Information and short essay questions or video responses (up to 1,000 characters or one minute long videos).
Compensation Details:
- Successful applicants will receive credits to be used towards classes in Improv, Musical Improv, and/or Sketch Writing at Magnet Theater.
- Please note that electives are not covered by the scholarship.
- Upper-level classes requiring approval are not automatically accessible; however, if approved, scholarship credits will apply.
- Due to limited availability and competitive nature, not all applicants will receive a scholarship. Previous non-recipients are encouraged to reapply.
