AUDITION INSTRUCTIONS AND FULL CHARACTER DESCRIPTION:

[MICHAEL]
Male. Early 60s. Chinese/East Asian. A board member at the Lee Family Association of Calgary, which helps members of the Chinese community with anything from immigration to quick loans. He’s perceptive and unforgiving.
PRINCIPAL

Storyline: Lucky is a gambling addict whose dream is to get-rich-quick. When he falls prey to a tax scam, his already precarious financial situation – which he’s kept secret from his wife, Noël – becomes much much worse. Lucky attempts to remake the money through loan sharks, favours from his old gang affiliates, and gambling, but he’s eventually sussed out by his daughter, Tina. As a point of pride, Lucky rejects Tina’s offers of assistance, and his subsequent bad choices and bad luck cumulate with Noël discovering Lucky’s duplicity. Much later, at Tina’s graduation ceremony, the inevitable downfall of events have taken their course. Although Tina is financially weighed down by parents, she’s achieved some independence. Lucky and Noël are are no longer together, but on the road to stability. In the end, all three have learned something: life goes on no matter what.

Casting Call for Skilled Hockey Players – Feature Film “Youngblood” Adaptation

Job Description: We are seeking skilled hockey players for an upcoming adaptation of the feature film Youngblood. This project requires hockey players who can perform on the ice while portraying characters in the film. If you have strong skating skills and can pass for a 20-year-old on camera, this is an exciting opportunity to combine your athletic abilities with acting.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Portray a hockey player in the adaptation of Youngblood.
  • Participate in scenes requiring ice skating, puck handling, and other hockey-related activities.
  • Work closely with the production team to ensure all scenes are performed safely and authentically.
  • Follow direction from the film’s coaches, choreographers, and production crew to ensure your actions align with the vision of the film.

Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years or older, but able to convincingly play a 20-year-old character.
  • Must be a skilled hockey player with strong skating and game experience.
  • All positions are welcome (forwards, defensemen, goalies).
  • Must be able to legally work in Canada.
  • Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
  • Must reside in the Greater Toronto Area.
  • Must file taxes in Ontario.

Casting Call for Feature Film “Late Bloomer” – South Asian Talent Needed

Job Description: We are seeking South Asian talent to fill various roles in the upcoming feature film “Late Bloomer.” The production is looking for actors between the ages of 7 and late 70s who can speak Punjabi or Hindi. We are also looking for talent who can play the guitar, with the potential to sing. This is an exciting opportunity for both union and non-union actors to be part of a major production in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform in a feature film in a role that fits your age, language skills, and any additional talents (such as playing the guitar or singing).
  • Follow the direction of the film’s production team on set.
  • Engage fully with the character and contribute to the overall storytelling of the film.

Requirements:

  • Must be of South Asian descent and fit within the age range of 7 to late 70s.
  • Must be fluent in either Punjabi or Hindi.
  • For certain roles, the ability to play the guitar and possibly sing is required.
  • Must be able to legally work in Canada.
  • Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
  • Must ordinarily reside in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
  • Must have filed taxes in Ontario for the year prior to principal photography (2023).
  • If booked, must be able to provide production with documentation proving Ontario residency and tax filing.
