Job Description
A paid R&D theatre opportunity is now casting actors for an upcoming development week of a new stage production. This project is seeking strong performers who can bring sharp character work, natural comedy, and grounded emotion to a contemporary play setting. Actors from underrepresented backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants must be based in Greater Manchester, with rehearsals/auditions taking place in Manchester City Centre.
Job Responsibilities

Perform scripted scenes for an R&D development process ahead of a future premiere.

Collaborate with the creative team in readings, scene work, and exploratory staging.

Take direction, adjust performance choices quickly, and support an ensemble environment.

Bring clear character specificity, timing, and truthful emotional beats to the work.
Requirements

Must be Greater Manchester-based and able to work in Manchester City Centre.

Seeking actors to play ages 30–35 for the following roles:

Jen: confident, dry-witted, funny, impulsive, creative/arty appearance.

Jake: sarcastic, self-conscious, self-deprecating, outdoorsy, hipster vibe.

Jodi: wears her heart on her sleeve, a little naive, modest, always well-groomed.

The play follows three lifelong friends whose decades of friendship and banter conceal the things that matter most. Described as funny, raw, and human, the production features three substantial roles and aims to encourage conversations around men’s mental health while supporting awareness and fundraising efforts.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform one of three substantial male roles in ACT TWO
- Participate in the play’s initial research and development process
- Collaborate on character and script development
- Bring authenticity, humor, and emotional depth to the role
- Work collaboratively with the writer and other performers
- Participate in the eventual production, subject to development and funding
Requirements
- Male actors ages 40–50
- Strong acting and character-development skills
- R&D or new-writing experience preferred
- Comfortable working with material involving friendship and men’s mental health
- Interested actors should contact the production for an audition pack
