Spinal Fusion Revision

While often successful in stabilizing the spine and alleviating pain, spinal fusions can sometimes require revision surgery for a variety of complex reasons. One of the most common drivers is pseudoarthrosis, or a "failed fusion," where the bones do not properly fuse together, leading to persistent instability and pain. Less commonly, but critically, post-surgical infection might require intervention for debridement and hardware removal. Finally, persistent or recurrent pain, even in the absence of a clear structural failure, can sometimes prompt a thorough re-evaluation and potential revision if a correctable source is identified.
