Los Angeles Film Festival is Now Accepting Submissions

The LA Film Festival is one of the biggest platforms for indie storytellers and aspiring filmmakers and is now accepting submissions.

The LA Film Festival is taking place from June 1-9, 2016 and showcases new indie films, TV shows and online content from aspiring filmmakers.

The FEstival creates partnerships and networking opportunities between indie artists and the film industry.

Signature programs include the Filmmaker Retreat, Coffee Talks, Master Classes, the Spirit of Independence Award, Fast Track, a film financing market and Diversity Speaks, a day-long forum for content creators of color.

The Los Angeles Film Festival, is produced by Film Independent, a 501(c)(3) non-profit arts organization focuses on promoting and supporting indie films and filmmakers that include diversity and innovation in part of their productions.

Awards & Prizes:

Selection to the LA Film Festival qualifies films for prestigious awards, including:
• Film Independent Spirit Awards (feature films)
• Cinema Eye Honors for Non Fiction Filmmaking (documentary feature films)
• Academy Awards® in the Narrative, Animated, and Documentary Short Film categories (short films)

In addition, films selected for the Festival will be programmed within one of various competitions, winners selected by a jury:

US Fiction Competition
Independent and original feature-length, fiction films redefining the breadth of American culture across race, gender, sexuality, class, geography, and national identity. World premiere requirement.

Documentary Competition
Compelling, character-driven non-fiction, feature-length films from the U.S. around the world. World premiere requirement.

World Fiction Competition
Unique fiction, feature-length films from around the world, especially curated for L.A. audiences. World premiere requirement.

Nightfall Competition
From the bizarre to the horrifying, these are feature-length films to watch only after dark. World premiere requirement.

LA Muse Competition
A mosaic of quintessentially LA fiction and documentary feature-length films inspired by our city of angels. World premiere requirement.

Audience awards are a central component to the festival, including:
Audience Award for Best Fiction Film
The Audience Award for Best Fiction Film is based on ballots submitted by Festival audiences. All world premiere films are eligible for the audience award.

Audience Award for Best Documentary Film
The Audience Award for Best Documentary Film is based on ballots submitted by Festival audiences. All world premiere films are eligible for the audience award.
