Toronto International Film Festival is partnering with Instagram for a short film contest
Are you an aspiring filmmaker, actor, model, or producer? If so, here’s your chance to showcase your filmmaking skills and put your abilities to the test in a new Instagram Short Film Festival competition.
The Toronto International Film Festival is partnering with Instagram to launch a digital short film competition. The TIFFxInstagram Shorts Festival will showcase new and established filmmakers from around the world. TIFF is asking filmmakers to upload original 60-seconds-or-fewer film shorts, using Instagram. TIFF judges will select 30 finalsts to be showcased on the film festival’s website and an Instagram channel in August before a six-person jury selects a Judge’s Choice award.
The jury includes the director of Selma Ava DuVernay, Mommy filmmaker Xavier Dolan, music video director Nabil Elderkin, and stop-motion animation artist Rachel Ryle. Online audiences will also have the chance to vote with likes on Instagram to select a Fan Favorite short film.
“Our collaboration with Instagram is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the work of filmmakers from all over the world and discover up-and-coming talent through the world’s largest creative digital community, showcased by the world’s largest public film festival,” TIFF director and CEO Piers Handling said Wednesday in a statement.
