Want to become an actor? Here’s Why you should or should not have a talent agent.
One of the biggest questions that Project Casting is often asked is, do you know an acting agent in order to become an actor?
What’s a Talent agent?
A talent agent is someone who finds jobs for actors, writers, Â models, and filmmakers. IN addition, the agent’s job is to defend and support the interests of their client. But, having an agent is not required to become an actor, many A-list actors have started their acting career without the help of an talent agent. However, many casting directors go directly to talent agents in order to find the artists whom they are looking for.
It is important to point out that an agent is paid a percentage of the talent’s earning after the talent has landed a job. Typically, a talent agent gets paid 10% of what the actor, model, or talent has earned for that production.
In a recent video by Arvold Casting, the casting director for several hit Netflix TV series and AMC’s Revolutionary War series Turn, “casting director/producer Erica Arvold, CSA, talks with actor coach Richard Warner about whether actors can submit jobs without an agent”
