Before they were A-List actors, Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill were aspiring actors.
Brad Pitt first gained recognition as a cowboy hitchhiker in the road movie Thelma & Louise (1991). His first leading roles in big-budget productions came with A River Runs Through It , Interview with the Vampire, and Legends of the Fall. He gave critically acclaimed performances in the crime thriller Seven and the science fiction film 12 Monkeys, the latter earning him a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor and an Academy Award nomination.
In college, Jonah Hill began writing his own plays and performing them in the Black and White bar in the East Village neighborhood of New York City. His plays developed a small following and helped him realize that his true desire was to act in films. Dustin Hoffman asked him to audition for a role in I Heart Huckabees, in which Hill made his film debut. Hill then made a brief appearance in Judd Apatow’s directorial debut The 40-Year-Old Virgin, which eventually led to him starring in a larger supporting role in the Apatow-directed Knocked Up, the role of a virgin video game tester in the comedy Grandma’s Boy. Now Jonah HIll is a two-time Academy Award nominee, for his performances in the films Moneyball and The Wolf of Wall Street. He is also known for his roles in Accepted, Superbad, Knocked Up, Funny People, Get Him to the Greek, 21 Jump Street, This Is the End, and 22 Jump Street.
In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill were asked what drew them to acting and Brad Pitt said, “It started with a love from growing up in a very small contained environment and film was expansive to me.”
