Zombieland 2 will film in Atlanta, Georgia this summer.
Zombieland was a box office hit movie that perfectly mixed comedy and horror into one single amazing feature film. The 2009 movie featured Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Woody Harrelson as they travel across zombie-filled America.
Now the sequel to the box office hit movie is going to film in Atlanta this summer. According to OLV, Zombieland 2 will begin filming in mid-August. In addition, the sequel is expected to bring back the original cast.
Earlier this month, Sony unveiled the movie’s logo at CinemaCon, along with the logos for Blade Runner 2 and Bad Boys III, but Sony studio executives didn’t give many details surrounding Zombieland 2 during the convention. However, the sequel will feature the movie’s original director Ruben Fleischer and the script will be written by Paul Wernick, Rhett Reese (Zombieland, Deadpool) and Dave Callahan from The Expendables.
During a recent Q&A, writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick said:
It’s actually still in development over at Sony, they’ve had a couple writers take a crack at it, we’re still exec producers and we’re guiding and helping where we can and, yeah, I think there’s still very much talk about it, but I think it has to be right, I think all the actors and [original ‘Zombieland’ director] Reuben [Fleischer] all feel like there’s no reason to do it again if we’re not getting it exactly right.
Following the box office success of Deadpool, it’s no surprise that Sony wants to cash in on the popularity and writing skills of Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. However, the two writers are going to be extremely busy as they are currently working on the sequel to Deadpool 2 as we speak.
