Tyler Perry is selling his Atlanta TV and movie studio.
According to Ellie Hensley with the Atlanta Business Chronicle, Tyler Perry’s current studio is on the market.
In an email to Atlanta industry leaders, Tyler Perry Studios president announced filmmaker Perry is looking to sell his current studio on Continental Colony Parkway.
Tyler Perry’s decision to sell his legendary Tyler Perry Studios is a sign that Perry is planning on upgrading his production facilities. Recently, Tyler Perry agreed to purchasing a large portion of Fort McPhereson, which he plans to turn into a large new movie studio.
Last month the Atlanta City Council announced a deal that would allow for a new movie studio to be built on the 488 acres of property.
“This deal is getting ready to fall apart because of the time it’s taken to get done,” Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed told the city council April 20. “We are at a moment when we need to close.”
Tyler Perry is a true entrepreneur. From living on the streets of Atlanta to being listed as the highest paid man in entertainment in 2011. Tyler Perry currently has a multi-year partnership with Oprah Winfrey and her Oprah Winfrey Network. His hit TV shows, ‘The Haves and the Have Nots, and ‘ ‘Love Thy Neighbor,’ are the most watched series on the OWN network with well over 3 million viewers an episode.
