‘The Walking Dead’s Carol Was Supposed to Die in Season 3

Date:

Carol was supposed to die in Season 3 of The Walking Dead.

Greg Nicotero and the writers and creators of The Walking Dead would probably go through several different storylines about the future of the zombie drama. That’s why, in a new interview with SFX Magazine, Greg Nicotero revealed how one conversation changed the show forever.

Not a lot of people know that when we were shooting season three, in the episode where T-Dog died, there was a moment where Carol was going to die in lieu of T-Dog’s character. At that point there was some concern in the writers’ room that they didn’t know where to take her character. So the fact that [showrunner] Scott Gimple and the writers have been able to craft this amazing journey for her just goes to show that there is a tremendous amount of story to tell for a lot of these characters.

That’s right: T-Dog almost got to live. The decision with Carol has been a smart one. The hard nosed character helped destroy the Wolves and has shown the most character development out of all the characters on the show.

The Walking Dead returns on February 14th.
