AMC’s Preacher season 2 may be headed to Atlanta, Georgia.
AMC’s new TV series Preacher is a hit. The Seth Rogen produced comic book adaptation Preacher was renewed earlier this month for a second season and season 2 will feature even more new episodes. Preacher filmed the first season in Albuquerque, New Mexico where Albuquerque Studios served as the show’s home studio. But, according to OLV, cast broke the news of a potential move during an interview with EW Radio at SDCC last week.
Presumably, the TV show is trying to cut costs and Georgia’s current tax credits of 30% allow for the show’s producers save more money per episode. In fact, there are over 30 TV shows and movies filming in Georgia right now.
The series follows “a Texas preacher named Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper) who is inhabited by a mysterious entity called Genesis that gives him the power to make people do whatever he commands. Once this power attracts the attention of two mysterious angels, Fiore (Tom Brooke) and DeBlanc (Anatol Yusef), Jesse, his badass ex-girlfriend Tulip (Ruth Negga), and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) are thrust into a crazy world populated by a cast of characters from Heaven, Hell and everywhere in between.”
Currently, Preacher is the second most watched new series on cable television among the key demographic and averaging 3.3 million viewers per episode. So when the news hit the Internet that AMC planned on expanding and renewing the series it wasn’t much of a surprise.
