Disney Cancels ‘Girl Meets World’? [UPDATE]

It’s official! Disney cancels Girls Meets World.

[Dec 30, 2016] According to the show’s writers, Disney Channel has canceled the Boy Meets World spinoff.

“It is with incredible pride in our work and complete sadness that things end, that I report to this wonderful audience that our show is over,” the @GMWwriters account tweeted Wednesday. “I just officially got the call, and would like to thank this audience for its incredible love and loyalty. Please watch our January episodes.”

The Twitter account, purported to be run by showrunner Michael Jacobs himself, went on to say: “We leave you with three incredible souvenirs of a show we couldn’t be more proud of. As I look back I can tell you with absolute certainty – We gave you our best.”


Is Disney going to cancel Girl Meets World?

Boy Meets World actor Rider Strong comments regarding the future of Girl Meets World has many fans wondering if the end is near.

In the latest episode of his podcast Literary Disco, Rider Strong reveals the comedy series has ended.

“We finished the third season of Girl Meets World — my brother and I were directing a lot of episodes and I acted in a couple — and the show ended,” Strong said.

However, according to Deadline the Disney Channel has not notified the cast and crew about the future of the show and the January 20th season 3 finale is titled “Girl Meets Goodbye”, which could be a series finale. That episode also features a major Boy Meets World reunion.

Girl Meets World returns with new episodes on January 6.
