Director Todd Phillips has reportedly worked out a deal to make another DC movie.
The ‘Joker’ movie was a hit for DC, director Todd Phillips and leading actor Joaquin Phoenix. Phillips, the same man who made ‘The Hangover’ trilogy, took a huge risk making a dark and scary comic book movie that features none of the classic storylines from Comic Book movies. Phillips has denied he’s working on a sequel, according to Forbes, DC has reportedly given him “proverbial permission to dabble with at least one more DC origin story.”
There are no details on who will be working on the project, or even if it would be another villain or possibly even a hero. Maybe he will do some alternate history version of The Penguin, where Penguin is stuck inside an Aquarium for years.
In related news, ‘Joker’ hit another major milestone. Worldwide the movie has grossed over $1.2 billion, which is impressive for a film that some thought would not work in the generation of Disney’s superhero franchise films.
Todd Phillips landed ad deal where he received a part of the gross profits, which means the NYU filmmaker has earned himself $100 million from the movie alone. It pays off to think outside of the box.
