The Weeknd is set to star in a feature film he co-wrote and produced, with Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan starring.
This captivating project will be a true spectacle as the three stars come together on screen for what promises to be an unforgettable experience!
Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye has achieved a significant milestone – his first starring role in a feature film, as reported by Variety.
This artist-written and the produced project must be brought to fruition with undisclosed plot details. Trey Edward Shults, director of Waves and It Comes at Night, is both writing and directing the project–though its genre remains a mystery. Filming for the movie is set to take place in Los Angeles. It will feature an esteemed ensemble, including Jenna Ortega (Wednesday and Scream VI) alongside Barry Keoghan (The Banshees of Inisherin and The Killing of a Sacred Deer), all starring alongside world-renowned musician, The Weeknd. Shults produces the movie, while Reza Fahim–Tesfaye’s co-writer and business partner–is making it happen with Kevin Turne and Harrison Kreiss.
Chayse Irvin will mastermind cinematography, and the score will come from a collaboration between The Weeknd and Daniel Lopatin, aka OPN. Of particular note, OPN had previously graded films such as Good Time and Uncut Gems.
Besides his current undertaking, Tesfaye is set to broaden his acting career by debuting as the lead actor in HBO’s much-anticipated show The Idol. This is a project co-developed with Sam Levinson and Fahim.
Get ready for some exciting news! Netflix has recently declared the creation of a Pokémon Concierge, an all-new stop-motion animation show.
