The Vampire Diaries Season 6 Huge Ratings Drop

Date:

Despite having a huge fan base, it looks as though The Vampire Diaries ratings are plummeting.

Last week, only 1.59 million people tuned in to watch what was meant to be a pivotal moment in season 6. While those numbers may sound fair, nearly a million viewers have stopped watching The Vampire Diaries since last season. According to reports, nearly 2.59 million people watched Elena and Damon in Season 5 of The Vampire Diaries.

In addition, Season 6 of The Vampire Diaries had the lowest premiere ratings ever. This most likely has to do with the amount of competition The Vampire Diaries faces each week. Currently, The Vampire Diaries competes with extremely popular TV series including Grey’s Anatomy and The Big Bang Theory.

However, even though there was a significant drop in viewers, The Vampire Diaries is still one of the CW’s most watched shows. Therefore, there is no reason to jump to conclusions and say The Vampire Diaries is going to get canceled. But, fans of The Vampire Diaries should begin to panic if the ratings continue to fall.

The Vampire Diaries used to be the number one series for the CW Network. However, after the release of The Flash, the superhero series had the most watched series premiere in CW’s history. Over 3.5 million people watched the most recent episode, which scored a 1.4 rating in comparison to The Vampire Diaries’ .7 rating.

But, where will the creative team take The Vampire Diaries next? What will it take to attract more viewers to see the drama that unfolds in Mystic Falls? We are not sure but, if things do not change quickly for the series, then The Vampire Diaries will become the next show to get axed from the CW lineup.
