‘The Interview’ Makes Over $15 Million Dollars

The Interview made $15 million dollars over the Christmas weekend.

Despite the mishandling of the release, The Interview has been able to make over $15 million in online sales in less than five days, plus an additional $3 million more in theaters. According to Sony, the movie was “rented or purchased online more than 2 million times” between Wednesday and Satruday, making it one of the most successful straight to Video On Demand releases of all time.

However, The Interview has not made a profit. The movie cost $80 million to make The Interview a huge failure for Sony.

“We worked hard to get the film out there by Christmas day,” Rory Bruer, Sony Pictures president of worldwide distribution, told Variety. “It was such a whirlwind to get it done that it kind of amazes me that we were able to make it happen.”

Of course it was chaos because Sony, concerned about threats from hackers, pulled the movie from theaters. However, they were still managed to make $15 million only, 65 million dollars left to go…
