It’s Official ‘Supergirl’ TV Series Headed to CBS

Date:

It’s Official: ‘Supergirl’ is headed to CBS for 2015-2016 season.

CBS has given ‘Supergirl’ a new series pickup for the 2015-2016 season. The series stars Melissa Benoist (Glee, Whiplash) as the main character and will be the third DC Comics TV series, following the success of CW’s ‘Arrow’ and ‘The Flash’. However, it is important to point out that another ‘Flash’ spinoff is also in the works at CW.

‘Supergirl’ follows Kara Danvers/Kara Zor-El, Superman’s cousin, at age 24, when she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she always wanted to be, after leaving Krypton and hiding her powers. ‘Supergirl’ features Calista Flockhart, who will play Kara’s boss at CatCo. Mehcad Brooks will co-star as Kara’s love interest.

Executive producers for the series include Greg Berlanti(also a creator/producer for Arrow and The Flash), Ali Adler, who are both writing the script, and Berlanti Productions’ Sarah Schechter.
