Twitch and SoundCloud announce a new partnership, which will help aspiring musicians and content creators make money through live streams.
Many creative content creators are turning to live streaming performances to make a living during the Coronavirus outbreak and mass self-quarantine.
The new partnership will allow all SoundCloud Pro, SoundCloud Premier and Repost by SoundCloud creators to have their Twitch Affiliate status quickly implemented fo free. This status gives content creators the chance to earn revenues from performances streamed on Twitch. It is important to note, access to the Affiliate status is not guaranteed. Twitch accounts will be verified by actual people to see if accounts follow the platform’s best practices.
“It’s an unsettling time for everyone right now, and we know COVID-19 has been especially hard on musicians who were scheduled to play live shows over the next few months,” said Soundcloud in its announcement. “Many creators are turning to live video streaming platforms to connect with their fans.”
For individuals who do not have an account will be asked to fill out an application and a Twitch Affiliate invitation will be sent in the next few days. Fans can then subscribe to their Twitch channel and they can run ads, sell merchandise, and more.
