Oprah Winfrey to film a documentary on the first openly gay football player, Michael Sam
Oprah Winfrey’s OWN is teaming up with Pilgrim Studios and filmmaker Amy Rise to produce a multi-part originals docu-series about Michael Sam, the first openly gay football player to be drafted into the NFL.
The new series is set to take a person look at the gay football players as he enters the world of professional football.
According to deadline, cameras are expected to follow Sam as he works to earn his spot on the St. Louis Rams while under the scrutiny and pressure of being the first openly gay player in the NFL.
“We are honored that Michael is trusting us with his private journey in this moment that has not only made history but will shape it forever,” said Oprah Winfrey.
