Tom Holland reveals he had talks to star in a ‘Back to the Future‘ reboot with Robert Downey. Jr.
In a recent interview with BBC Radio 1, Tom Holland opened up about the popular deep fake video of him and Robert Downey Jr. as the stars of ‘Back to the Future.’ In the video, Holland admitted he does not think a reboot is necessary; he had conversations to star in a remake.
Holland said this about the potential project:
“I’d be lying if I said there hadn’t been conversations in the past about doing some remake, but that film is the most perfect film — or one of the most perfect films, one that could never be made better. That said, if [Robert Downey Jr.] and I could just shoot that one scene that they remade for fun — he could pay for it cause he’s got loads of money — I would do it for my fee and we could remake that scene. I think we owe it to deep fake because they did such a good job. … I think I’m gonna speak to Robert and see if we can try to recreate something for deep fake.”
Deep fakes are becoming more popular; Ranging from fan-casting to character assassinations. Fans have used this process to allow someone’s face over someone else’s body. Due to the relationship Peter Parker and Tony Stark in ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ fans were looking to see the actors reunite in a new production. An editor attached their faces to an iconic scene from ‘Back to the Future’, and have fans excited about seeing the actors once again on the same screen.
Here’s what the original director Robert Zemeckis had to say about the possibility of a reboot. In 2015, Zemeckis told The Telegraph via Vanity Fair, “Oh, God no,” he said. Fortunately, Zemeckis and his writing partner Bob Gale have the rights to the original trilogy and the final word on whether or not Hollywood can take the McFly saga for another spin. Zemeckis went on to say, “That can’t happen until both Bob and I are dead. And then I’m sure they’ll do it, unless there’s a way our estates can stop it.”
Marty McFly seems to be off-limits, for now.
