Star Wars casting call lead roles for Episode VIII as Disney searchers for lead and supporting roles.
According to Mirror.co.uk, Disney is now casting lead roles for Star Wars: Episode VIII. Producers are looking for actors to play supporting roles in the new movie. UK actors John Boyega and Daisy Ridley, who play Finn and Rey, respectively, previously auditioned during an open casting call for the franchise and landed the lead roles, so now it can be your chance to join the cast.
It appears as though director Rian Johnson has not found the lead actor just yet and the production for the 2017 movie stars next year. It was previously reported that Episode VIII will have another female lead role. In fact, Gina Rodriguez, Tatiana Maslany, and Olivia Cooke were all considered the top contenders for that new role, according to The Wrap.
Sources say the potential actress will start doing screen tests with Force Awakens star John Boyega starting the end of December. Either way, all three actors are currently fighting for the lead role.
Recently actress Daisy Ridley said the script is “good”, in an interview with Variety.com. “I have. It’s very good; very good. Let’s see VII first and then we’ll talk about VIII. [Laughs.]”
In other news, Star Wars producer Kathleen Kennedy has recently confirmed that shooting for the star wars movie will start in January.
During the European premiere Kennedy said: “There will be a handful of new cast members in Episode VIII but also all the cast members you see here tonight will be in it as well. We’re excited to get back together.
“We start shooting Episode VIII in January, we’ve been prepping the movie for the last year and (writer-and-director) Rian Johnson has been doing an amazing job.”
Stay tuned for more casting calls and acting auditions for the upcoming Star Wars movie.
